Is Olive Garden A Nice Restaurant Reddit

Why do people on Reddit hate Olive Garden so much?

I keep seeing posts on about it.

'probably the worst poster on this sub' - /u/Real_Mila_Kunis

Specifically, the joke is often about going to the Times Square Olive Garden: the idea that there's a certain kind of person who would go to one of the most vibrant cultural and gastronomic centres in the world, and would choose instead to eat at a chain that serves exactly the same food that they could get in their home towns.

At this rate I feel like I want to go to the Times Square Olive Garden.

We don't have Olive Garden in the UK and if ever went to Times Square I feel like I'd have to go to to it now for both the novelty (it's a very American chain in a very American place) and the fact I could say I had been to it.

It obviously wouldn't be the only place I'd try to eat while there, but I feel like it's something I would have to cross off a list now.

I feel the need to add that I went there, before the meme was a thing. Fourth grade me had never been in NYC, and every single bit of times square blew her mind. I revenge just walking down the streets with my mouth and eyes wide open, drinking the whole thing in, so full of awe. And the thing that blew my mind most was the big Hershey's display, with so many facets and lights and moving parts. So logically, when my dad raised the issue of eating before we saw Phantom of the Opera, what I wanted to do was go in that Times Square Olive Garden where I could watch that sign out the window the whole time. Sure enough, it kept me captivated for half the meal. I still don't regret it.

This was a thing well before that post.

Isn't that the concept that Hard Rock Cafe was built on?

Who the fuck thinks Times Square is a gastronomic center of the world? Just because you see it on tv a lot doesn't mean it's the best at everything. If anything, it's a joke that Reddit doesn't know shit about shit.

level 2

It's like getting chicken nuggets at a fancy restaurant lol.

level 2

…and that would be people who are not there for the food

level 2

Heh, I have a pretty great picture of me eating Mcdonald's across from the Pantheon.

level 2

For NYE, you honestly can't beat it.

I'll NEVER, stand down on the streets for NYE again. I did it three, and two years ago... it's LITERALLY the worst.

level 2

That reminds me of when I used to live on the east coast and relatives would come into town from the Midwest and want to go to Red Lobster.

level 2

On top of this, pretty much every establishment in the vicinity of Times Square is an overpriced tourist trap, where prices go up and quality goes down.

level 2

Like in The Office when Michael goes to Sbarros in times Square

level 2

Similar to going to Mall of America then getting excited about Forever 21

level 2

"Now to get some famous NY pizza." - Michael Scott walking into a Sbarros.

level 2

We have the same joke about McDonalds in Europe.. "So you go to Italy to eat at McDonalds the same menu you have at your hometown?"

level 2

one of the most vibrant cultural and gastronomic centres in the world

You have to be joking right?
